Keys you type most / least accurately
Place your left fingers on A, S, D, F and right fingers on J, K, L, ;. This is the home row — always return here between keystrokes.
Train your eyes to read 2–3 words ahead of where you are typing. This reduces hesitation and dramatically increases speed.
Focus on accuracy FIRST. Speed comes naturally once muscle memory builds. A 98% accurate typist at 60 WPM is better than 85% at 90 WPM.
Typing has a natural rhythm. Aim for a consistent cadence rather than bursts of speed. Use background music to help maintain flow.
Learn keyboard shortcuts for everything. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Z, Alt+Tab — reducing mouse usage forces faster keyboard fluency.
Even 10–15 minutes of focused daily practice beats 2 hours once a week. Consistency builds muscle memory faster than intensity.
Never look at the keyboard. This feels slow at first but within 2 weeks you will type faster than you ever did while looking down.
For coding: practice brackets (), [], {} and symbols like =, +, -, _, / separately. These are the biggest bottlenecks for programmers.
